Track Races in Virginia
RICHMOND, VA--The Bloomsburg University men's and women's track team took part in the Fred Hardy Invitational at the University of Richmond in Richmond, Virginia on Friday.
On a near 90-degree day the Huskies Beth Schwing (Hershey/Lower Dauphin) took seventh and was the first Division II runner to finish the 5,000-meter event in a time of 18:41.82. The time was good enough to qualify her for the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) championships. Finishing 10th was Amber Hackenberg (Middleburg/Middleburg) with a PSAC-qualifying time of 18:56.74, while Ashley Shuck (Milton/Milton) was 16th in 19:26.92.
At 10,000-meters, Sarah Bounds (Shippensburg/Shippensburg) finished third with a time of 40:08.26.
On the men's side, Justin Shepherd (Cranberry Twp/Seneca Valley) was seventh of 18 runners who finished (31 started) at 10,000-meters in a time of 32:12.47, while Misha Litvinov (Drums/Hazleton Area) was 15th in 34:22.01.
